RESTORATION OF WATER WELLS AND PONDS IN CROSS-BORDER AREA

Activity Title 1: The collection of material regarding the cultural and historical heritage of water wells and ponds and the definition of their usefulness.

Pupils of primary schools will take a visit and make photographs of water wells, formulate questionnaires for villagers and carry out surveys. Pupils will obtain resources regarding water wells and arrange information for the publication in a leaflet. Stories and legends related to water wells will be obtained, the planting of the area once and nowadays will be researched together with the function of water resources once and today.

Activity Title 2: Inventory of water resources and defining of water learning paths

Pupils will make a list of water resources and an educational water path will be defined. Flora and fauna linked to water resources will be studied together with their importance for the life of a man nowadays and in the future. Weather will be observed, geologic analysis will be made and the analysis regarding the use of soil will be implemented. Mentors and pupils will provide guided tours of the path. The collected material will present a basis for an exhibition, and a publication on cross-border educational path from Doberdob to Sovodnje, to Miren and to Preserje will be produced.

A treasure hunting game or geocoaching, a modern type of a treasure hunting game using GPS receiver, will be organized. The game is played all over the world and it may be understood as an adventurous activity, intended for recreation, fun or sport. A person hides a "treasure", a container, called geocaches, with certain content, publishes its location on the world wide web (the latitude and longitude), and other players have to search it. When the geochaces are found, the logbook needs to be signed. The information on the found is registered by the player on the web site where the original information and the location of the treasure have been given. The most wide-spread web site for players of geocoaching is: www.geocaching.com. The treasure hunt game will be set across the entire area covered by the Project.

Activity Title 3: Organization of Events next to Water Wells

• a theatre production about water wells
• a video about water wells
• art competitions (painting, literary, photographic) and organisation of an exhibition

Water well in Grgarske Ravne

• workshops presenting the therapeutic importance and use of herbs and workshops on the production of traditional produce of the Trnovo Plateau;
• musicians of folk tunes, traditional dancing groups and
• folk story-telling with the aim to preserve the folk tradition.

Water Well in Preserje

• singing performances of octets, vocal groups and choirs;
• literary contributions;
• organised theatre productions and
• traditional dishes and wines tasting events.

Water Well in Šempas

• The water well will be a starting point of the From Lijak to Sekulak Energy-ThemeTrail;
• children's plays including the topic of water wells as places of socializing;
• concerts of various choirs and singing of folk songs.

Water Well in Podlake

• performances by folk dance groups from Italy and Slovenia.

Water Well in Temnica

• a theatre performance, a recital of poetry;
• a concert of the local octet and
• a presentation of countries participating in the exchange.

Water Well in Bilje

• a performance by a theatre group from Bilje Primary School on traditional craft making;
• a cultural programme;
• a presentation of the water supply in the past.

• presentations of literary contributions.
